Appreciation Blog

Friday appreciation post:

I have decided that today is going to be the day for gratitude. No matter how sour I am at the world, I will write a happy post to say thanks to someone or something.

Many of you know that this month held RUOK day. It seems utterly pointless to ask that these days, because most of the time you'll get the same response "oh, yeah... you know". And you do. You do know. There are no more words required. And it is almost as if I don't want to ask anymore either because I don't want to put the other person through the awkwardness, or remind them that nothing is different, no one can do anything and no one can see anyone. And without banging on too much (after all, this is meant to be a happy post!) I'll just say that I get it. I think that is all I can say. But I can do one thing to make you smile. I can show you one way in which the world is a better place today. I can drop an appreciation post to show you it is not all doom and gloom... so here is the first.

I made a special, last order of these Galaxy planters for @greener_house and they were delivered the other week. Many of you have probably visited Maggie and Josh over the last few years in their Brunswick store. It is positively lush with delicious greenery, for as far as the eye can see. I tell myself every time that I make a delivery that I cannot buy another plant - and every time I do. I have way too many plants at home, and as I have discovered the art of propagation, I have basically two or three of most plants I own. It's out of control. But you know what? I don't care. It is so good for me, for air and for life to have more green in my place. So that is why I cave in every time.

But if you haven't, it is positively lush with delicious greenery, for as far as the eye can see. It is a green haven, a leafy jungle, abundant with variety after variety of foliage.

Whenever I stop by I am always greeted with the smiliest of smiles from both Josh and Maggie - they truley love their job and it shows. They'll tell you everything you need to know about all of the plants you need to have. They will also cleverly (possibly annoyingly) use the proper, botanical name for the plants and you just have to nod like you know which one they are talking about - but this just proves how dedicated they are about the love they have for their plants - they know them inside out!)

Josh and Maggie have been there for my ceramics business from the very beginning. I remember when they were selling plants from their front yard in Brunswick (that is actually where my plant addiction began!). I bought a calathea and a monstera and I was pregnant with Leo at the time. I got in touch with Josh about Facebook algorithms because he seemed to draw such a huge crowd to his sales - I wanted to do the same. After that he invited me to the opening of their warehouse in Collingwood to set up a little stall, which, by then, I had popped out a baby - so there we were, Leo strapped to my front and we were selling pots alongside Greener House. It's been love ever since.

So there it is. Thank you Josh and Maggie from Greener House - you’re two bloody, great legends and I appreciate you. Not only for continuing to support my little biz and being there from the start, but for also being a part of my life.

Adele
