This is not the end is an exhibition of new work by independent furniture makers and artists at the CoCraft Workshop gallery.

In January 2024 a ban on all Victorian native timber logging officially took effect. While this is a positive for the environment, it brings about challenges for makers who have based businesses on these timbers over many years. Similarly with ceramics, their raw materials are being “mined out” and can either become unavailable or change their chemical structure, thus behaviour and appearance. But, this is not the end. It can also be an opportunity for maker to embrace this change, explore new materials, techniques and business models. This exhibition is a showcase of CoCraft Workshop’s experiments and an invitation to designers, makers and architects to explore this new ground with them.

The 800sqm workshop and maker studio spaces will be open to the public. Free one hour woodworking demonstrations will occur daily where attendees will be shown how to machine, trim, sand and oil a beautiful recycled hardwood chopping board that they can take home.

Artists include Brett Coelho, Adele Macer, Lisa Banh, Louisa Kyriakou, Ruby Pilven, Hamish Basset - Tiny pots, Kibby Denson, Skye Prudence, Alejandro Lauren, Natalia Hernandez AKA Parra De La Noche, Shelby Sherritt, Cassie Lynch.

Visit us between 1pm and 4pm Thursday May 23 to Sunday June 2
